Mark Langley
Mark Langley is a multi award winning professional artist based in Belper, Derbyshire. His meticulous and captivating art spans many subjects but now focusses primarily on landscapes and architecture.
Mark is well known and highly regarded for his detailed, realistic drawings in colour pencil and pencil. These drawings are mainly animal portraits, architecture and transport scenes, each infused with a unique artistic flair and a sensitive touch.
Mark’s technique today is evolving and he has embarked upon a fascinating creative journey, which began with an experiment with oil paints during lockdown and lead him to become one of the UK’s few modern pointillist painters.
Mark uses oils or acrylics, layering individual dots and dashes of bold colour, which when viewed as a whole reveal a harmonious, atmospheric image. While Mark’s work is still grounded in realism it has become more expressive and impressionistic. One of the most interesting features of his recent work is the way he varies the level of detail and control depending upon the subject resulting in some works being looser and more expressive while others are tightly controlled and precise.
Mark is able to switch between his detailed pencil drawings and his pointillist paintings according to the subject. He loves the creative challenges of a commission and is happy to accept commissions for pencil drawings or pointillist paintings.
Mark supplies original art, prints and cards to select galleries and exhibits at shows throughout the UK. His work can also be purchased direct via his website.
